Pilates is an ideal movement based treatment and conditioning method for injury rehabilitation and prevention, pre- and post-natal, back pain or disc herniation, chronic pain and postural issues.

This mindful movement practice is excellent for cross training training dancers and athletes, as well as improving stress and anxiety, strength, flexibility and general well being.

Specialised private sessions are personally tailored to your body and postural needs with a therapeutic approach. Group Pilates and Yin Yoga classes are made available for everyone to join for full body release, activation and restoration in an inclusive space.

About Emily

With a restorative and rehabilitative interest, Emily is a highly experienced movement educator with more than thirteen years of experience teaching the Pilates Method with a clinical, contemporary and somatic approach. With a background in dance, she enjoys engaging deeply with the human body by developing awareness, anatomical interest, ease of movement and a sense of mind-body integration with her clients. Emily's classes are explorative and encourage new movement experiences with a focus on dynamic alignment in order to feel connected, refreshed and energised.

Emily studied her Diploma of Professional Pilates Instruction with Pilates International Training Centre / National Pilates Training at Aligned for Life in Melbourne, and was mentored by movement experts Katrina Edwards, Sarah Colquhuon and Wendy Smith.
In 2009 she completed a Bachelor of Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts with an integrated practice in somatic movement training with Kinetic Studies professor Wendy Smith.

 

Emily went on to work with Wendy at Studio 202 Pilates and Movement Practices together with a team of allied health professionals, and for Sara Colquhoun in Melbourne, as well as several other Pilates and physiotherapy clinics. Emily is also a certified Yin Yoga teacher, having trained in Rishikesh, India, and a certified Garuda Reformer teacher.

Based in Berlin, Emily teaches from her home studio in Friedrichshain, online, in other studios across the city, while maintaining an active career as a dancer and choreographer.
